"The Screen" is part of a cooperation between Elsebeth Jorgensen and Sofie Thorsen.
It took place in Sorup, Denmark in May of 1997.
The photos show the first screen project in a series of actions, planned to be continued in the fall of 1997.

The screen can be folded and carried around. We mount it wherever we want, and on each site it produces a space, or the idea of a space, where things can happen.

It is an approach intended to initiate different artistic and social activities, and these activities will produce several kinds of objects, texts and art pieces.

We invite guests to come and take part in what is going on. It is not only an exhibition space, but also a production space.

In Sorup we made the screen from fabric found on the site. We took it with us into the woods nearby and installed it there. During the work, a sketchbook was made with drawings by ourselves and other people. That is an example of the kind of autonomous objects that can be developed from the activities surrounding the screen.

At the moment we are working on a more permanent version of this mobile space, to be used on "campsites" in the future. It will be stronger, lighter and more durable. It will be the visual center-point of our activities in the near future. The series of events with the new screen will start in fall 1997.

It will be a kind of nomadic journey, a line of starting points for a non-stop, uncontrollable process.
